2009 ADVID award

The 2009 award was named after Baron Joseph James Forrester for his lifetime of dedication to the Douro Region and its wines.

The Prize Jury decided to award the Baron Joseph James Forrester Award in 2009 to the study: "A Three-dimensional Statistical Reconstruction Model of Grapevine (Vitis vinifera) Simulating Canopy Structure Variability within and between Cultivar/Training System Pairs" by the authors Gaëtan Louarn, Jérémie Lecouer and Eric Lebon, who were pursuing their professional research in the field of viticulture and management of water stress at INRA (Institut National de la Recherche Agronomique (National Institute of Agronomic Research)) in France.

The award-winning paper aimed to design a three-dimensional simulation model of the grapevine plant wall structure and its variation with varieties and training systems. View the study presentation.
